Day 1

Colombo -Pinnawala – Kandy

We start early in the morning, so at 05:oo am you will head straight to the famous Pinnawala Opharanage in Kegalle, where you can mingle with these majestic beasts and enjoy the experience of observing them at close quarters.

Around 09:15am as their feeding time and you can either observe the baby elephants being fed or you can enjoy the experience of bottle feeding the delightful baby elephants yourself. Thereafter you will have the opportunity to witness the fascinating experience of watching all the elephants at their two hour bathing session in the river Maha Oya, which starts everyday around 10:00 am.

KANDY

After that you will drive on to Kandy, home to the temple of the tooth. Sri Lankan’s most important Buddhist relic- the sacred tooth of the Buddha. After this experience you will have free time to explore the city of Kandy, to walk around the lake, as well as getting a bird’s eye view of the hills surrounding Kandy, the city and the lake from Rajaphilla Mawatha.

In the evening you will have the opportunity to witness a spectacular traditional show at YWCA.

Day 02

Kandy/Sigiriya/Anuradhapura/Passikudah

Leave for Sigiriya after breakfast.
SIGIRIYA – The spectacular Rock Fortress of Sigiriya, 19 kilometers North East of Dambulla is one of Sri Lanka’s major attractions. The Rock was the Fortress of the “King Kasyapa” who murdered his father and stole the throne from his elder brother who was the rightful heir to the throne. Kasyapa built his fortress in this 182-meter high rock to protect himself from his enemies.

Sigiriya may have been inhabited through prehistoric times. It was used as a rock-shelter mountain monastery from about the 3rd century BC, with caves prepared and donated by devotees to the Buddhist Sangha. The garden and palace were built by Kasyapa 477 – 495 AD. Following Kasyapa’s death it was again a monastery complex up to about the 14th century, after which it was abandoned. The ruins were discovered in 1907 by British Explorer John Still.

Today Sigiriya is famous for its ‘Mirror Wall’, which consists of poems and paragraphs carved by visitors to the rock many years ago and for its magnificent frescoes of shapely be-jewelled maidens, vibrant colours and the water garden similar to the Ajantha frescoes of India. Sigiriya is in fact, the best-preserved city center in Asia from the first millennium and has been named as a UNESCO world heritage site and 08th Wonder of the World
After completion, proceed o Anuradhapura for site seeing.

ANURADHAPURA

This was Sri Lanka’s first capital city founded in the 4th century B.C.It was a model of systematic planning set in rolling park-land.

Anuradhapura today is home to numerous sacred treasures and sites that make it a must visit destination for Buddhist pilgrims,tourists and travelers.

Amidst the Kingdom,the attraction and fascination of Anuradhapura continues unbates as it plays host to several vital land marks of the story of Buddhism in Sri Lanka, highlighted by its marvelous collection of ancient temples, monasteries, monuments , palaces, man – made tanks and parks.

After visiting the main sites commence your journey to the Beach Passikudah.

PASSIKUDAH.

It is situated in Eastern seaboard of sri lanka between Kalkudah and the Indian Ocean, approximately 35 km from Batticaloa Town. The turquoise blue waters of the bay attracts local and foreign tourist to this wide sandy place under the hot tropical sun to surf,swim or just frolic in the water.

Day 4 – Day at Leisure at Passikuda at your preferred resort.
Day 5-Passikudah-Polonnaruwa-Colombo
After breakfast , proceed to Colombo via visiting Polonnaruwa.

You will see ancient places, moonstones, beautiful parks, massive buildings and stunningly beautiful statutes. The majestic king’s Council Chamber, the Lotus Bath, the Lanka Thilaka Viharaya, the rock temple, and the statue of one of Polonnaruwa’s great king’s, Parakkaramabahu, are a few of this capital’s memorable sights.
